| original painting, acrylic medium on canvas, metallics and tissue with paua laminate eye, size: 760 mm x 300 mm This painting reflects the dramatic effect that Tawhirimatea, or Maori deity of the four winds has on myself and my family at our home at Birdlings Flat. We are constantly battered by the drying heat of the North east bringing fire risk and toxifying the lake, or it is the driving Southerly off the sea. We revere Tawhirimatea though, welcoming the cleansing winds that refresh energies and bring change. The gold taonga is a peace offering to the god, in the hopes that his force wont become too extreme. |
